Producer/guitarist Gavin Prior is currently mostly a solo performer. He combines pre-fabricated samples with live electronics, live sampling and improvisation on hardware synths and homemade instruments all subject to further manipulation in the moment. Depending on the setting, a performance can be ambient, freeform or rhythmic.

He was previously a member of United Bible Studies and has played in the Free Jazz/Metal trio Tarracóir and noise duo Toymonger. More recently he ‘sang’ in the acapellyptic vocal group The Primal Barber Trio.

Since graduating from UL with an MA (Composition) in Music Technology he has been mostly based in Dublin and has improvised with musicians from Ireland and around the world including David Lacey, Paul G Smyth, Seán Meehan, Thollem McDonas, Rhodri Davies, Okkyung Lee and Damo Suzuki.

He plays acoustic and electric guitar with preparations and extended technique. He circuit bends and modifies electronic instruments which can be heard in his recordings with Toymonger and one-off/intermittent improvisational encounters. He has performed throughout Europe, The USA and Asia. From 2001 to 2005 he played in the electro-acoustic improv group Murmansk. He co-founded Deserted Village (record label/live music promotions)
